The denimbeard error can display during the matchmaking flow on the Insider version of Sea of Thieves. Should you see this error it means you are not signed up to the Insider program. You can sign up via the Insider website, providing you are 18+ years of age and own a Game Pass subscription or your own Sea of Thieves physically or digitally.
Alternatively, you may have been removed from the old pioneer program or the new Insider program for breaking the Terms and Conditions you agreed to when signing up. For further support on this issue please use the 'Raise a support request below'.

There are several reasons that this canappear.

- The servers are down for maintenance. If this is the case, we'll get everyone back in and playing as quickly as possible! Details of server maintenance and downtimes are communicated via several of our social media channels including Twitter and Discord. \n
- The client version of the game has become out of sync with the server - caused by a newer game version being deployed. Doing a hard reset of the Xbox, followed by re-downloading the client can resolve the issue for Xbox users, or for PC users you should go to the Microsoft Store and download the latest updates. \n
- Antivirus/firewall settings, proxy servers, or other network management/manipulation tools. \n

For Steam - If you are being prevented access to Sea of Thieves due to the Lavenderbeard error when using the Steam version, please try the following actions:
\nClear Xbox Live credential from Steam
- Click the Start button from the bottom Left corner of Windows and type Credential Manager then press Enter.
- Once viewing the Credentials Manager, click the Windows Credentials button.
- Find Entries labelled Xbl_Ticket
- Left click any with 1717113201 (or 804980065 if you are playing the Insiders Build) in the name and select Remove
- Sign back in to Sea of Thieves

If you are continuing to receive this error after performing the above, then try this method for linking your Xbox Live account to Steam:
- Boot Sea of Thieves as normal and link your Xbox Live account to Steam when prompted.
- When the Xbox sign in message welcomes you to the game, click 'Lets Play'.
- When prompted 'You've already linked your Steam account with Xbox Live' click Yes, Continue.
